8th Annual Golf Tournament
The 8th Annual Lawson Alumni Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, July 19 at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson. The weather cooperated beautifully and the tournament was, once again, a great success. Approximately $5,500 was raised to fund the Alumni Association's continued support of school programs and scholarships.
A plaque recognizing participation in every annual Alumni Association Golf Tourney was presented to Roy Cheek (Class of 1941). The "Roy Cheek Rule" was implemented this year also in honor -- Players 70 years young may tee off from the gold tees!
A change occurred at the top of the leader board with a score of 54 (18 under par)! Thus, a different team was crowned champion this year -- Ivan Simmons (1979), Corey Simmons (2004), Colin Simmons (2006), and Nicholas Sloop (2000).
